National Association of Independent Schools - website
The National Association of Independent Schools acts as the national voice of independent pre-collegiate education and as the center for collective action on behalf of its membership. It serves and strengthens its member schools and associations by articulating and promoting high standards of educational quality and ethical behavior by working to preserve their independence to serve the democratic society from which that independence derives and by advocating broad access for students in affirming the principles of equity and justice. Saint Stephen's has been a member of NAIS since February 22, 1972.

National Association of Episcopal Schools - website
The National Association of Episcopal Schools, an independently incorporated, voluntary membership organization, supports, serves and advocates for the vital work and ministry of those who serve over 1000 schools, Early Childhood Education programs and school establishment efforts throughout the Episcopal Church U.S.A. Chartered in 1965, with historic roots dating from the 1930s, NAES is the only pre-collegiate educational association that is both national in scope and Episcopal in character.
Cum Laude Society - website
The presence of a Cum Laude chapter at a secondary school is an indication that superior scholastic achievement is honored. From an induction ceremony, which can range from a formal, separate event to a segment of an awards day, to service projects, scholarly writing or other scholastic activities, individual chapters of Cum Laude create programs appropriate for their own campus that benefit the larger community as well. In several schools younger students are commended by Cum Laude, encouraging them in their scholastic pursuits, while in others visiting scholars are presented by the chapter membership for the edification of all.
National Honor Society - website
The National Honor Society (NHS) and National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) are the nation's premier organizations established to recognize outstanding high school and middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NHS and NJHS serve to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character (and Citizenship for NJHS). These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since their beginnings in 1921 and 1929.
Quill & Scroll Society - website
Quill and Scroll was organized April 10, 1926, by a group of high school advisers for the purpose of encouraging and recognizing individual student achievement in journalism and scholastic publication. Since its founding, charters have been granted to more than 14,104 high schools in all 50 states and 44 foreign countries. Each chapter is encouraged to engage in activities that best serve the school's journalism/publications program. The Society encourages student recognition through student membership in Quill and Scroll.
National Art Honor Society - website
In 1978, the NAEA began the NAHS program specifically for high school students grades 10-12, for the purpose of inspiring and recognizing those students who have shown an outstanding ability in art. The NAHS also strives to aid members in working toward the attainment of their highest potential in art areas, and to bring art education to the attention of the school and community. In 1989, the NAEA introduced the NJAHS as a separate organization from the NAHS. (When a student completes the junior membership, he/she must start anew and be nominated to the NAHS).
Key Club International - website
Key Club is the oldest and largest service program for high school students. What makes Key Club so successful is the fact that it is a student-led organization that teaches leadership through serving others. Members of the Kiwanis International family, Key Club members build themselves as they build their schools and communities. Today, Key Club exists on almost 5,000 high school campuses, primarily in the United States and Canada. Growth efforts, however, have taken the Key Club experience internationally to Canada, the Caribbean nations, Central and South America, and most recently to Asia and Australia.
