Volunteer Spotlight

My name is Barb Mire, and I have two sons, Sam, a sophomore, who has been at Saint Stephen’s since Pre-K, and Patrick, a senior who was here from K-10. They were both very excited about playing football even though they had never played before.  When the school finally approved the program, I felt that those involved really should do all we could to make it a success.  So I guess you could say I started as a football booster.

My son Sam plays football, basketball and baseball, so it was only natural that Ibecame an active participant in the Booster Club. When Lorraine (Jackman) asked me to help with the coordination of concession stand volunteers, I was hesitant at first.  (I have a hard time delegating, and I was still involved with merchandise sales for football.)  Well, I’ve now learned to delegate and I have two great helpers taking over the football sales.

When I’m helping in the concession stand, it’s a good opportunity to interact with the students and meet other parents.  Getting to know your child’s friends is a great benefit of being a concession volunteer.

In the Booster Club you meet a lot of great parents who are working for one goal-- supporting our school’s athletics.  If you have the time, I strongly recommend that you volunteer some time with the Booster Club…it’s an organization that gives back so much
