Miller Honored by Museum
Saint Stephen’s student Cassidy Miller has been chosen to receive a 2023 Anne Frank Humanitarian Award presented by the Florida Holocaust Museum. She will be recognized at a ceremony on May 17 at the museum in St. Petersburg. Established in 2001, this award honors outstanding humanitarian efforts by high school juniors in public and private schools in Pinellas, Pasco, Hillsborough, Sarasota, and Manatee counties. Schools recommend students who have made a conscious decision to better the lives of other individuals or groups both inside and outside of school activities. The award is endorsed by the Anne Frank House in New York. Cassidy was nominated by SSES faculty member Patrick Whelan, who wrote: “Cassidy may be the most intentionally kind student I have ever taught – and I have taught 35 years at a school known for its emotional intelligence. The ideas in Anne Frank’s diary match closely with Cassidy’s outlook on life.” An outstanding student, Cassidy is also active in community theater and volunteers by reading to poor and underserved children.
